Dear Parishioners, Parents of Assumption School, and Friends,
I am happy to announce in early June of this year with the permission of Bishop George Murry S.J. and the full support of our parish council and finance committee we will begin to replace all the windows on the first floor of our parish education building.
This project was first discussed in 2005, when the parish joined the diocese in the campaign called “Today Sacrifice …Tomorrows Church”. The first project completed with monies from this campaign was the construction of a new handicap restroom in the vestibule of the church and the remodeling of the devotional area in the old confessional site. The time has come for our second project, new windows for our parish education building.
We have already received 50% of the cost for the new windows from the four-year campaign that will end in 2009. That amount is $40,000. We are in need of $40,000 more in order to install all new windows with a red brick finish matching the rest of the building.
Some Questions?
1. Who will benefit from this project? All families who use our parish education building now and in the future. Currently, there are 83 families in our school, and 68 families in our CCD program.
2. Why begin now? In October of 2008 we received a bequest of money from the Estate of Emma Schmick and plan to borrow upon this bequest, but we intend to pay it back in one year. Furthermore, new windows will save an estimated $ 7,000 in utility costs next winter and every winter thereafter.
3. How can you help? Enclosed is a donation/pledge form for your convenience. Additional forms are available at the parish office. The campaign “Windows into the Future” is for one year and payment plans are your choice.
In closing, I thank you for your faithful response to this appeal and for your generous support to your parish now and in the past. God Himself will reward you and may Mary our patroness guide our project and bring it to a successful completion.
Respectfully yours,
Fr. Melvin E. Rusnak, pastor
